Master of Reading and Writing 讀寫小先鋒 Join this to move forward a UN Sustainable Development Goal SDG4SDG4

The following message in Chinese is about a service opportunity which requires participants to be proficient in Cantonese.

Children with dyslexia have difficulty in reading and writing. About 1 out of 10 students in Hong Kong are suffering from specific learning difficulties which greatly affects their learning interest and self-esteem.

In view of this, four HKUST Connect Ambassador of Community Engagement (Connect ACE) collaborated with St. James' Settlement - Skyhigh Creative Partners to organize "Master of Reading and Writing", with the aim of stimulating children’s interest in reading and writing through four sessions of interactive workshops. We are now recruiting passionate volunteers to assist in the activities to facilitate children to learn reading and writing in a fun way. Through interaction, volunteers can understand more about their needs.

香港每10名兒童就有1 位被評為患有學習障礙,他們往往因在閱讀及寫作時遇到困難而放棄學習,繼而對學習失去興趣和自信心。

有見及此,一群社群服務參與大使(Connect ACE) 與聖雅各褔群會 - 天比高創作伙伴合辦「讀寫小先鋒」服務計劃,為患有讀寫障礙的兒童設計不同的互動遊戲,讓他們感受到學習的樂趣,藉此提升他們的學習動力及自信心。現招募科大同學擔任小老師一同帶領活動,並教導小朋友如何辨認中文字。

HLTH1010 Upon completion of the service, HLTH1010 course participants will attain a maximum of 2 hours for sessions on 14, 21 and 28 April (no HLTH1010 hours will be counted for session on 5 May) in "Community or Voluntary Work" in the "Activities" module per service session, subject to the actual direct service hours confirmed by the partner organization(s).
