ETHNIQUE 得一 Join this to move forward a UN Sustainable Development Goal SDG4

The "ETHNIQUE", a combination of "Ethnic" and "Unique", is a project serving ethnic minority children and youth in Hong Kong, which is initiated by one of the teams of Connect ACE (Ambassador for Community Engagement) 2016/17 with an aim to address genuine community needs, at the same time to motivate and lead fellow students to serve the wider community.

Comprise of 6.4% of the Hong Kong population, the Ethnic minorities have a strong barrier with local Hong Kong people in terms of culture and language. Many of the Ethnic minorities only socialize with the members of the same race so the social circle between locals and the Ethnic minorities rarely overlap. This subsequently isolates the Ethnic minorities which affects their self-esteem especially when they study in school  that further affects their academic performance and a change in perspectives.

In view of this, 4 Connect ACE partner with Hong Kong Family Welfare Society - ATAA Jockey Club Tseung Kwan O Youth Square to hold a project named "ETHNIQUE 得一 ‧ 賞 ‧ 異" . The project aims to empower minority adolescence and underline the importance of appreciating themselves and valuing who they really are through interactive games, cultural exchange and outing. At the same time, it is a golden opportunity for local students to interact with the minority groups and get more understanding towards ethnic minorities in Hong Kong.

You are invited to be a volunteer to lead the games, be a big brother or sister of the ethnic minorities, and assist in activities preparation.
