Servant Leadership Operation Training (SLOT)

Organized by U-Fire Networks and subsidized by the HKUST Office of the Dean of Students, Servant Leadership Operation Training (SLOT) is a platform where marketplace volunteers and student volunteers from various tertiary institutions collaborate as mentors to serve underprivileged children from Shum Shui Po, one of the poorest areas in Hong Kong. By sharing with the children how to use the internet in a constructive and beneficial manner, mentors put their efforts to bridge the digital divide between the children and the world.

Before meeting the mentees, student volunteers will undergo a series of trainings to equip them with the essential knowledge and skills to be mentors. They then will be paired up with mentees in the 9-month mentorship program, and have online mentoring as well as monthly gatherings and activities such as theme park visit and services.
